We have neglected to update you because we have a house-guest that is keeping us very busy! My sister, Jennifer, flew up to get a much-needed break from the Texas heat and to see Aurelia in all her glory. She arrived last Wednesday, and we have been on our toes since then.
I want to clarify that it is not Jennifer that is pushing us to move move move. She is here to sleep and shower and play in peace. I, however, have taken it upon myself to interpret her eagerness to help with my crafting and reorganizing as an opportunity to create more work for myself. Oh, you mean you want to help me set up the nursery? Okay, well how about we paint the clock in the living room and make some paper flowers and wrap some books and paint some bottles and pick some branches and set it all up and while we're at it, let's head to the thrift store and see if we can find a piece of furniture to use as a kitchen cart (totally did!) and we may as well paint/decorate that and, oh look--there's a yard sale so let's get some empty frames to paint and hang string and clothespins in, and you know what my fridge is a disaster so we should take some time to organize it, aaaaaand we haven't even begun to touch what needs to be done in the nursery. Sounds fun, huh?
We all know I have an affliction (Nesting On Crack). Well, it turns out, when offered help, I don't stick to a modest list; I explode with a case of the Need-To-Do's. It certainly doesn't help my neuroses to have no guest room and therefore piles of other people's belongings in my living room.
On top of all that, a surprise visit from Grandma informed our activities on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Suffice it to say, Aurelia did not eat her dinner, get to bed on time, sleep alone or live through thirty seconds without being scooped up and kissed/told how pretty she was. We also had extensive conversations about our newest family member, Rhonda (she deserves her own post, so, stay tuned), as well as Aurelia's hair. People cannot get over that little girl's hair. Patty insists it's thicker, been highlighted, bangs need trimmed... Hair grows; sunlight changes its color. Oh, yeah, and I can't bring myself to de-emo-ize her hairstyle yet. Why is this so fascinating every time we meet?
Anyway, I am stressing myself out. I had a few things left to do, and a goodly amount of time in which to complete them. Now, I have added several things (some of them LARGE) to my project list, and a baby trying to bust out of the front of me 7 weeks too soon. So much for a relaxing visit with my sister. Thanks, Hormones...
