Like/Dislike

Our lives are eventful, while at the same time mundane.  The daily goings-on may not be notable to the naked eye, but there are so many moments where I catch myself smirking.  Both of these children fill me wonderment, truly.  We watched a movie this afternoon, and as we were lying on the couch (Aurelia likes to be the little spoon) the sun broke through the clouds.  The surprising glow of sunlight came through the ivory curtains and lit her hair over the dark brown cushion like silken gold.  I was struck by her beauty, how she changes, what I would do to give her everything she desires--all in one moment.

That's one example.  Alot of the time, they give me pause for more comical reasons.  How she throws her arms out to the side and twists her torso from side to side, belting gibberish in a sing-song voice.  How he has finally begun crawling (and I only say 'finally' because I was worried for a bit about his brains and/or weight impeding his ability to be mobile).

Aurelia, who will be 23 months old tomorrow, likes:

yogurt
hot chocolate
twirling
applesauce
playgrounds, especially swings (the big kid swings)
reading
the marshmallows in Lucky Charms
all doggies
putting on shoes
skype
videos of herself

She dislikes getting her diaper changed as well as using the potty (quite a dilemma).

Thaddeus is 8 months old, as of Monday, and he likes:

crawling like a zombie (the slow, lurching, hands-and-knees approach)
cups (not using them, just being near them and then flinging them, then repeating)
putting any of the toys designed for teething fully in his mouth
putting any of the toys not designed for teething fully in his mouth
APPLESAUCE
drooling
yoga poses (as much as a chunky baby can)
his dog, Max
HIS DADDY (it's kind of insulting how he cranes his neck to locate the source of Matt's voice, regardless of what I've got going on for him)

He dislikes how heavy his head is and when Aurelia intercepts a toy onto which he has honed.

  1. Ha, I totally get ya on the daddy/son connection. Clyde reminds me frequently that daddy is his best friend. Whatever, I just carried you for nine m the kid, no big deal.

I love that you record all these fun details about your kiddos!
