Woulda

I actually write a goodly portion of my blog entries in my head while I'm rocking Thaddeus to sleep in his room.  This evening, while he was suckling his bottle off to sweet dreams, I had several thoughts.  (There is a post that I have been marinating that is bleak and disheartening, but tonight is simple.)  First, babies have the.softest.skin.  Seriously.  What is their secret?  Second, this boy is my last baby, and I wanted to put something out there.

As a general rule, I prefer the route of instant gratification.  With both children (the first more so than the second) it was all I could do to hold my patience for the 20 weeks before my gender-unveiling ultrasound.  Each floating fetus received a pep talk the night before (now, sweet baby, you press your bottom right to the wall of that squishy home and bare your private parts for the world to see!  don't you dare have any shame, child, or I may explode, and you go where I go--you understand??).  And they did not disappoint.  I did have an insurance policy, however, despite the ultrasound tech's obvious declaration of "girls don't have testicles".  If Aurelia had been a boy, she woulda been named Gabriel Johnathon.  If Thaddeus had been born a girl, he woulda been named Larkin Elisabeth.

And even though I am so very pleased to be sleeping for eight hours every night and to only be three-point-five months away from a formula-less existence, I really like those names.

That's it for now, aside from some pictures of my bebes having a grand ol' time at the park:
