We read to Aurelia every night. She l.o.v.e.s her stories. I think it's interesting how she inserts aspects from her real life into the books. One of her favorite books is called "Something From Nothing". It's about a boy and his grandfather. Both the character and Aurelia's grandpa have white beards, so she thinks the book is about Papa. She also thinks any book about Santa Claus is about Papa. Which is hilarious. But recently, she has been wanting to read "10 Little Rubber Ducks" by Eric Carle.
Now, backstory: Grandma Patty likes to tell people that she lives on a boat, even complete strangers. Even incoherent toddlers who make up their own language and think "face-five" is hysterical. So, I always roll my eyes when Patty says, "Aurelia, are you going to come visit me on my boat? Because Grandma lives on a boat. My boat." Seriously, you lost her at 'are'. But, tonight, there was a page in the book with a boat on it. Aurelia pointed and said "boat". Not new. Then she looked up at me and said "Grandma". Not a question. Boat = Grandma. Wow.
Lesson learned: give the girl a bit more credit.
