This is a game made popular by my mother-in-law, Patty, when Aurelia was a baby. As Aurelia got a little older, when we would visit, Patty would ask her, "How big is Aurelia?" She would then hold up the baby's arms above her head and exclaim, "So BIG!" Aurelia would crack up over it. Often around the dinner table, now sans Patty, we four can often be found throwing our arms up over our head exclaiming how BIG we are.
Now the point: Thaddeus is so big! Not just large (I mean, he is that), but getting to be a big boy. A miniature man. Today he was toddling around my friend's house, peopling-watching as he is wont to do, and I realized that he is taking a turn from 'baby' to 'kid'. He is still jealous when I hold other babies and is always conscious of where I am in a room, but he is gaining so much independence. I watched him wander, and pined a bit for the squishy snuggle-butt he was, seemingly so recently. A friend noticed, and said "that's why you need another baby!" And, just like that, the moment was gone. Oh... If that's the solution to my minor heartbreak, I'm over it.
