39 Days

If life at Sebby Castle were a jigsaw puzzle, there would only be four or five pieces that got eaten by the dog. Minus a few kinda important things (packing my hospital bag and installing the car seat), everyone is feeling good and prepared. The house has been cleaned and reorganized from top to frikin bottom. Matthew has three weeks of vacation time saved up. Patty has an elaborate pee-in-the-car system in order to get here as quickly as possible to watch Aurelia once my labor begins. Aurelia has nary a clue what is going on, but honestly, she's upstairs napping without a diaper on right now, so what can you expect?

I'm still just as terrified of the first six months as I ever was. But the hormones aren't wrecking my sanity (for the moment). I'm not taking things in stride, like you think I would have learned how to by now. I'm not employing any new stress-relief techniques. Having the house clean (and I really mean clean, not just a half-ass attempt to pile all the toys in one place) makes me feel better, makes me feel ready. Maybe it shouldn't be as simple as that, but my kitchen table has nothing on it but a pretty tablecloth and a bowl of bananas, and I breathe easier.

I told Matthew that I wanted everything done by October, so I could sit and wait to go into labor. He looked at me in a way that he generally does when I say things that I believe at the time but he knows to be LIES, ALL LIES! I like to be busy--not feeling overwhelmed, but working on something.

Lord, this is frikin boring. Sorry. I'll post some photos of projects that rock in a bit.
