I was browsing my new favorite inspirational website (pinterest.com) the other night and I came across a quote from one of the bloggers: "My two most used phrases are 'I have an idea' or 'I can make that'!" I laughed and pointed it out to Matt, who also laughed because he is aware that these are also some of my favorite things to say--along with 'Why am I always pregnant?' and 'We're out of cheese.' So, anywho, I was inspired by so many different things on this website, and it truly helped to get my house put together in a way that is more than just adequate, more than just making due with what we have. I worked my ass off for two months getting it all just right (you know, because my infant
will care when we bring him home). Well, here's what I've got to show for it:
This is the after photo for the TV stand-turned-kitchen cart I snagged for $12.75 at IYR. It is home to tupperware and foil and other food storage things:

This frame hangs over it. Got it for $1 at a yard sale, painted it a heinous color I got as a free sample and wrapped yarn around it. I'm going to use it for hanging holiday/birthday/occasion cards (once some of those come around):

This is the clock that hangs in the living room. Matthew trash-picked it for me when they bought new clocks from the SUB at Boise State. Until recently, it was very ugly:

Under that super cool photo gallery I put up in the living room are two short bookshelves. One holds movies and the other is from where Aurelia's toys repeatedly escape. I used this space as a fake mantle because we aren't classy enough to have a fireplace:

(the tree is cut out of our wedding song lyrics, and the hearts have our names on them--matthew & jamie on one and the kids have their own)

(2x4's cut into square(ish)s, scrapbook paper, painted letters, mod podge... also I bought fall colored twinkle lights last year, but the plug in to hang them in the window is behind the couch, so I stuffed them in a jar, which is kinda fun)

(old books wrapped in kraft paper and painted short quotes along the binding...also paper flowers in upcycled snapple bottles that may or may not one day be painted and/or rolled in epsom salts for a snowy look)
We have a good time. Tomorrow, the nursery!
We sign off with a little love:
