Fail

Drove halfway home (about 6 minutes) from story time at the library before I realized I hadn't buckled Thaddeus into his carseat.  He is still rear-facing and I kept checking my mirror, wondering how he was twisted around, staring at me.

The most embarrassing part: I had a friend in the car with me and we had just been talking about how many kids we each wanted.  She admitted to liking the one-on-one time with her only son, and everyone already knows that my second baby was my lil' surprise.  However, I was feeling proud of myself for doing a pretty darn good job, despite being thrown that (albeit handsome) curve ball.

Two minutes later, I realized I had skipped a pretty important step in Child Safety 101.

Uhh, parenting-of-two fail!  That's Irony: 381, Jamie: 12 (these scores are arbitrary but proportional.)

  1. This has absolutely happened to (almost) everyone. Luckily, I've put the fear of God into my children about the dangers of car accidents so the older two are quick to shriek "wait! I'm not buckled!" if I start to drive in that situation. Jack, like Thad, is obviously still too young for that and would undoubtedly also turn around quite happily if I forgot to buckle him!
