This morning was a host of Aurelia-related nonsense. First of all, she didn't wake up until 8, and I think it bears noting how ri-donk-ulous it is that I consider 8 a.m to be "sleeping in". Anyway, so Mr. T.J. and I head up to rescue Big Sister from the yowling monster that lives in her crib, and our Monday ball got a-rollin' right away.
First: I opened the door to find her in the popular yoga position known as "downward-facing baby". In addition to this brain-boosting exercise, she was naked. Awesome. Since she figured out the magic of zipper a few weeks ago, keeping her onesie jamas closed has been quite a challenge. Today was the first morning she succeeded in removing the garment entirely--although I cannot comprehend a reason behind this decision.
Second: While she was eating her cereal (dry, mind you) she scooped a Cheerio onto the spoon, blew on it, told me "Hot", and then gingerly placed it in her mouth. Her use of the spoon has been impressive (and waaay less messy when it's just cereal), but the notion that she understands that food has the potential to be hot (much less pretending it is) is new. The other night, she did shy away from a macaroni noodle, telling me "hot" and bidding I blow on it to cool it down for her. Toddlers are fun.
Third: Thad needed his breakfast too, so when I was satisfied Aurelia could handle herself, T.J. got to eat. I looked up from the baby to find Aurelia taking a huge swig of milk and then dribbling it out over her tummy. Then, of course, she started playing in the milky bubbles before they disappeared. So we got a new outfit (this one more suited to her--a flouncy skirt and a unmatching vest).
This was all before 9am!!
As aforementioned, Aurelia is a fan of taking her clothes off. Every time I tell her I'm going to jump in the shower, she starts de-robing. Today, since I had already changed her clothes three times and I knew I only had about fifteen minutes to shower and dress before Thad woke up, I tried to get her to keep her clothes on. Showering has become a team activity. I was lucky this time. She got dressed down to her diaper, but then decided that that was good enough. She didn't need to shower, but was more than pleased to jaunt around in the nude while I did so.
She's a peach!
Side note: how do people get their houses to look so put together?? I am so flustered and confused and have no clue how to continue, and Pinterest is.not.helping. In fact just the opposite. I don't think this place will be completely organized and decorated until after my son turns one. And that is nigh on unacceptable... G'night.

My house still isn't put together, and decorate? Are you kidding me? Embrace the new spin having kids has had on you/the house. It happens. Unless you're Martha Stewart, but even then, I don't know that I'd want her as a mom anyway. ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lanna. Aurelia is so cute! My youngest sometimes does the same things with liquids he drinks. I think he must be board. He is quiet and before I know it he has a soaking shirt! I love hearing how your day went, it sounds like the whirlwind we have too!
